Review: Seacrest Oceanfront Hotel in Pismo Beach CA

An artist friend recommended a hotel in Pismo Beach…saying it was the ultimate ‘Pismo Beach Artist Hotel.’ It has a chill vibe which is perfect for inspiration perfect for all creative types. I stayed at the SeaCrest Oceanfront Hotel on a weekend trip, and it was just what I needed.

Ocean View – Pismo Beach Artist Hotel

The hotel was built in the early 60s and was one of the first hotels in Pismo Beach. It was most recently renovated in April 2019. The two-story half-moon shaped main building faces the ocean with the pool area as we hot tubs in the middle. We stayed in the four-story building adjacent to the crescent moon. The room offered a relaxed beach vibe with white-washed wood plank walls as well as a balcony featuring a beautiful view of the ocean and the resort. Kitschy wooden signs, celebrating a beach theme, read “On Beach Time,” and “This Way to the Beach,” reminding us to breathe in the ocean air. In addition artsy signs made of little surfboards were arranged to help hotel guests find all the amenities. A microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker were also provided, as well as an iPod docking station, flat-panel HDTV (DirectTV), and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Breakfast & Goodies

A continental breakfast came with our room. However, it was much more than I expected… scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles and a pancake machine. Just press a button and voila…a pancake! That was a popular station. Other various muffins, croissants and pastries were also available… and of course good strong coffee.

Throughout the day, complimentary coffee, tea as well as fresh-baked cookies continued to be available in the lobby for hotel guests. Additionally, there is on site is a restaurant called Willow kitchen and cocktails. Offering brunch Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 3pm, it is open daily from 11 to midnight. It also doubles as a convenience store…with bottles of wine, soda, bottled water, chips, salsa, cookies, ice cream, etc., for sale to take back to your room. SeaCrest owns the building that Willow rents. As of June 2019, room service was not yet available, but both ventures expect to collaborate on this in the near future. The property also has three gas barbecues for guests to use, located down by the pool. And finally, It’s a dog friendly hotel!
