Review: StayCity Aparthotels, Dublin Tivoli

Deciding where to stay in a foreign country on your next vacation can often be stressful. Choosing wisely can make or break your vacation. I had been hearing good things from some of our travel associates about Staycity Aparthotels. Staycity has multiple locations in over thirty cities (as of November 2024). They have six in Dublin alone. So, this was our chance to find out for ourselves. With all those locations, does Staycity have a formula for success?

After a ten hour flight, about forty minutes on a shuttle bus and ten minutes walking, we arrived at Staycity Aparthotels, Dublin, Tivoli. This is where we settled in for the next several days. Our room was like a micro apartment, designed for an extended stay, optimized for those who expect to be out and about most of the day. Staycity has created a hybrid type lodging option. The rooms work well for both vacationers and business travelers.

Art & Music History

We were excited to discover that the Beatles actually played at this very spot when it was the Tivoli Theatre. This Staycity location includes a public square called “Tivoli Square” which is an outdoor courtyard with a large sign in honor of the historic venue. In the hotel lobby, there is an artwork featuring the original music venue. Additional art works grace the walls throughout the hotel. The manager Louie told us that Staycity curates art for all their locations.

The Staff at StayCity

The staff were all exceptionally friendly, helpful as well as refreshingly professional. This is always much appreciated after a long flight etc. When we arrived, Gemma suggested some places to eat nearby. I wanted to kick off our trip with some traditional Irish food. Gemma showed me the menu from The Brazen Head on her computer. I had done some research and recognized it right away. This restaurant is actually the oldest pub in Dublin, and it was very close. Room with a view of the steeple of St. Augustine & St. John The Baptist Catholic Church

Our room at Staycity Tivoli was lovely, charming and cozy. The small studio offered a large tv, a dining table for 2, a kitchen with a small fridge, stovetop, dishwasher, and microwave. My husband and I both enjoyed the firm mattress with 4 pillows and throw pillows.

Our view through the window featured the steeple of a beautiful church called St. Augustine & St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. I also loved the neighborhood – it is so close the Dublin Caste and the Christ Church area. Getting down to the Liffey River takes like 10 minutes. Everything you might need or want is a short walk away. Plus, the hotel has a great automatic coffee machine that makes cappuccinos, lattes, etc. to get your mornings started at no extra fee. There’s also filtered water for hydration which is fantastic. And let’s not forget the Guinness on tap at the check in desk.

Breakfast area at Stay City

Irish Breakfast

The lobby has lots of seating with several different sitting areas. Plus, the breakfast is shockingly good and well worth the price, particularly if you want to fuel up before heading out. My husband went crazy for the sausage and chocolate croissants. I loved the fresh fruit, eggs and fresh baked bread.

A Yummy Breakfast at Stay City

The following days we met a couple other employees who were all equally friendly, helpful and professional. Matus, who worked the front desk was great. He gave my husband all kinds of recommendations based on his love for nature, assuring him that a trip to the Cliffs of Moher was well worth the time and effort. He printed maps to help us find our way around town. You can basically walk everywhere in Dublin that you might hope to visit. To save time however, you can use the convenient public transportation, taxis, or Uber. We ended up visiting two coastal areas on the rail system – Dún Laoghaire and Howth, which we visiting on separate days. We were pleasantly surprised to discover how easy it was to reach the coast by rail.

Excellent Hotel Stay

All-in-all, we were quite pleased with our selection of Staycity Tivoli as our first home base in Dublin. Everything seemed to just flow in this well thought out property with their consistently helpful and professionally-trained staff. We actually look forward to future stays at Staycity in other cities. Hopefully, they are just as good. Paris, here we come! https://www.staycity.com/dublin/tivoli
