Miami Art Week

Each December thousands of art collectors converge on Miami Florida to attend Miami Art Week which officially began in 2002. The popular art week heldliterally takes over the entire city. In addition to the main art fairs held in large venues in Miami Beach, art can also be found in surrounding neighborhoods. Basically every alternative venue will be sporting artworks in every possible way. Yes the art parties are amazing as well. Here is a list of Staff Picks for ETG’s Favorite Art Fairs. As always, Art Basel Miami spotlights its annual sectors: Galleries, Conversations, Meridians (large-scale works), Survey (extended projects created prior to 2000), Nova (Younger Galleries), Kabinett (jewel-box sector), Positions (solo exhibits, emerging artists).

Of course Art Basel Miami leads the pack which has grown each year. In 2024, Bridget Finn took the reins as Art Basel’s director for the first time. Established in 2002, the famed art fair will showcase 286 galleries from 38 countries and territories. In addition, this year also brings an Art Basel App, a comprehensive AI-powered digital companion designed to enhance the visitor experience at Art Basel fairs. The app was developed to offer interactive opportunities for discovering new art and artists.

Art Basel Shop

Its newest iteration (2024) includes the Art Basel Shop, a novel concept store curated by Sarah Andelman. It premiered successfully at Basel and Paris earlier in 2024. Art Basel Shop further celebrates the Basel experience with lifestyle items, a variety of collectibles, and art inspired products. In fact, the Art Basel Shop will be featured in three locations near the entrances at the convention center. This way the general public can also take advantage of the Art Basel Show, without needing a show ticket. Miami’s longest-running contemporary art fair, Art Miami was created by David Lester in 1990. It continues to present investment-quality artworks of the 20th and 21st centuries. Prominent galleries from all over the world have been participating in this fair, attracting art collectors from around the world. SCOPE Art Show

Held right on the beach in Miami, this makes for a unique fair location for Scope. This art fair officially began in New York City in 2001. Then in 2002 it opened in Miami. Artist and gallerist Alexis Hubshman founded the art fair. I have always enjoyed this contemporary art fair which included over 42 new galleries in 2024. It also hosts international galleries from across the globe. This is a Must-See art fair during Miami Art Week.
