Review: Wolf by Vanderpump, Caesars Republic, South Lake Tahoe, CA
While on a road trip to South Lake Tahoe, my husband and I decided to dine at Wolf by Vanderpump. Interior designer Nick Alaine and Caesars Entertainment collaborated with Lisa Vanderpump in the design of Wolf. It is stunning. A brilliant entrepreneur, Vanderpump is leveraging her fame and building an empire, including a hospitality brand. The businesswoman and her husband Ken Todd co-own all of the restaurants with their net worth being over ninety million. That is pretty impressive.

The Lake Tahoe tourism office encouraged us to review the restaurant, and I am so glad they did. Vanderpump is known for creating themed Interiors for her restaurants. Hence each one is very different. After dining at Wolf, I now want to visit all of them.

When we walked into Wolf, the first thing that struck me was the ambience. Utilizing biophilic design, Vanderpump has created a natural upscale oasis. The outdoors are literally brought inside with dramatic elements of nature. Moreover, numerous visual details were utilized to create a fantasy-like specific story. There were large trees with intricate branches as well as stone walls reminiscent of a castle. Architectural ornaments, such as lions and other animals, stood tall around the dining space.
Once we were seated, Agenhu greeted us with a warm friendly smile and brought us some water. We immediately started a conversation about the restaurant, including the menu of course. You could see how much Agenhu loves working at Wolf, as he raved about his favorite items. Next, Ashley our server came by and told us a bit more about her favorite dishes. They both provided some excellent recommendations, and we took their advice.

I started with a glass of the Vanderpump Cabernet Sauvignon which was quite tasty. With earthy blueberry notes on the nose, the flavorful red was super smooth. It featured dark berry and a hint of chocolate. With an empty stomach, the wine kicked in quickly, and I settled into the environment. I really did feel transported, as I sat back admiring the overall design of the restaurant. It is intentionally a bit over-the-top and clearly intended to create an experience.
Soon our Prime Rib Sliders arrived at our table. They were served on toasted torpedo rolls with melted Provolone, Havarti, and crispy tobacco onions. These were wonderfully tender and warm. The cheese oozed into the bread as well as the meat creating a striking union.

Next our main course selections arrived – the Red Prawn & Chili Pasta and Ken’s Fish ’n’ Chips. The red prawn dish was divine. Topped with tasted breadcrumbs, the shape of the busiate pasta held the shrimp sauce so well. Similar to a corkscrew shape, the overlaps on the busiate seemed to hold even more sauce, hitting my taste buds with instant savory goodness. The breadcrumbs enhanced the mouthfeel nicely.
I also enjoyed the Fish ’n’ Chips. You can’t go wrong with perfectly-cooked crispy Guinness battered haddock. The key of course is that it must be prepared just right, cooked in fresh oil and eaten while hot. Wolf has this down to a science, explaining why the dish has become a customer favorite. It included peas with sautéed onions (Braised Petit Pois) and extra-crispy battered fries that were delicious.

Soon Ashley returned to our table and tempted us with dessert. Unfortunately, we were in a rush to catch the sunset, so we had to dart off. I will be back to try one of those fancy desserts next winter. That’s when my husband plans to chase the powder at Heavenly Mountain.
If you find yourself in South Lake Tahoe or Nevada, close to the state line, head to Wolf at Caesars Republic, South Lake Tahoe. The restaurant is located on the ground floor, right next door to Hell’s Kitchen.
Vanderpump takes us on an artist visual and culinary journey. Wolf is not just a dining experience. It is an elevated atmospheric fairytale. It features an extravagantly dreamy environment along with indulgent and delicious cuisine.
