The Shops of Paso Robles, CA
Paso Robles CA is famous for its wines. However, it also had some great shopping. Being an art lover, I scheduled a visit to the studio of well known sculptor Dale Evers.

I would later visit Sculpterra Winery and Sculpture Garden which features some of Evers larger works. The grounds of the winery feature large scale sculptures from other local artists such as John Jagger, Robert Bently and more. There is even a rotating art show inside the tasting room featuring additional visiting artists. The majesty of the sculptures and the landscaping (originally designed by John Jagger) makes for an enchanting place to sip a glass of delicious Petite Sirah. See below for a photo of a John Jagger sculpture. Mini ones were also available for sale at the winery.
The shopping in town was wonderful, and the boutiques showcased the art of many local designers/artists. Some of my favorite stores included the Firefly (cover photo) General Store, and Sugar Fashion Beauty.
I found some beautiful fashions at And Be Boutique, which had a sign on the front door saying Wine Tasting in the back. Paso Underground is a local wine collective that started in 2013. Offering tastes from four wineries Copia Vineyards, Hubba Wines, Lost Blues, and Ranchero Cellars, it’s the perfect place for wine tasting, if you don’t have a lot of time.
See more info under ETG’s Drinking drop-down of our Eat/Drink Page for more info on its wineries, or read my full article “UnPlug with Wine and Wildflowers” about my weekend getaway with my husband, photographer Richard Bilow. He also wrote his own article “Chasing the Superblooms” which is more about capturing that perfect shot. These articles are part of our ongoing series about the California Coast.
