Wildlife

If you are a fan of Lemurs, head Southwest to the Red Island. Here you will find a multitude of varieties. However, the gray mouse primarily live in Majunga (on the Western edge of the island). The island is home to rare reptiles, such as chameleons, and the leaf-tailed gecko, and also the green-backed mantilla frog. The fossa is also endemic to the area. You can find these cat-like mammals in the Central Highlands, as well as in Andringitra Massif.

Transport in Madagascar

Due to its stunning coastline, one would think, it would be a fantastic place to plan a road trip…however, there are some hoops to jump through if you indeed want to travel that way. A person from another country cannot just rent a car to drive. When you rent a car in Madagascar, make sure to check into mandatory local drivers beforehand. Be sure to avoid the wet season from December through March.
