Gib Singleton Gallery

One of the galleries ETG highly recommends visiting is Gib Singleton Gallery located in Vail Village. When you walk in you will immediately notice Gib’s beautiful bronze sculptures as well as numerous works by David Yarrow. In my opinion, David is one of the greatest contemporary photographers alive. In addition the gallery represents Earl Bliss, Carrie Fell, De Von, as well as David Riley.

Gib Singleton

Born in Missouri in 1936, Gib Singleton was a master sculptor who passed away in 2014. As a young boy, from a poor family, he traced designs in the dirt with sticks then created sculptures out of mud and straw. At just nine years old he won a blue ribbon in art at the Springfield State Fair. The artist was just in high school when his signature western and Biblical style started to surface. He spent time studying in Italy, and the rest is history. His sculptures have been exhibited in museums and galleries across the globe.

David Yarrow

At first glance, it’s natural to assume David’s photographs are computer composites. That however is not the case at all. David orchestrates his photo shoots much like a filmmaker manages a film set. He invests extensively in the process needed to fulfill his extreme photographic visions. The results are stunning and somewhat mind bending.

It took me a while to grasp the idea that the images I was admiring were not created on a computer. When you see a stunning models sitting in a car next to a wolf, it’s hard to imagine this is real. Then you see a massive lion walking across a bar, and you think “no way”. The exquisite look of Yarrow’s images is also very impressive. His aesthetic reminds me of some beautiful old black and white jazz club photos I saw at an exhibit in New York many years ago. A video displayed in the gallery, allows you to see that Yarrow’s process is far beyond anything you are likely to have seen before. Creating his photographs requires full on productions.

The artist is a technical master with incredible vision. His wildlife photographers are among the best I’ve ever seen as well. Many of the prints being sold are strictly limited to 12 large as well as 12 medium.
