Wine & Art in Tahoe City, CA

Wine and Art make a perfect pair. So, when I was visiting Tahoe city, I made sure to indulge in both. First I visited several art galleries. Then later in the day, I arranged a wine tasting at Tahoe Wine Collective.

I found North Tahoe Arts right away. Located on the main street, North Lake Boulevard, it is a collective of artists. The gallery and gift shop offered a variety of work. The selection includes paintings, photographs, jewelry, woodwork, ceramics, scarves and much more. Some of my favorite work was created by Lauren Bobowski, Kirsten Hagen, Geof McGilvray, Kelley Michelucci, Ron Miley, as well as husband and wife photographers Sky and Leah Emerson. Eadington Gallery features the gorgeous photographs of Michael Eadington. His wife Lisa manages the gallery. Obviously a huge fan, she brought me through the space to see his magnificent work. She also pointed out the work of other talented artists such as Paul A. Bartlett, Abe Blair, Cathy McClelland, and a few others. Tahoe Trunk Show is another wonderful gallery. It has been around since 2013 and is now owned and run by another husband and wife team Peter and Kristi Katin. The couple took over in 2022. Pete told me he loves working with artists and finding new works to bring into the gallery. Tahoe Trunk Show, 475 North Lake Tahoe Blvd, Lake Tahoe, CA 96145; https://www.tahoetrunkshow.com

Tahoe Wine Collective

Next I headed to my wine tasting at Tahoe Wine Collective. It is a well designed space on the main floor of the Boatworks Mall steps from the lake. The tasting room also exhibits the work local artists. The photography of Ernest Brassard was on display making for an even more cozy comfortable space. Small bites are also available for sale.

My tasting journey included three red wines – Lost Sierra Wine Singletrack Russian River, CA; Perch Barbera, Amador, CA; Boar’s Nest Zinfandel Amador, CA;

I enjoyed all of them. The Lost Sierra offered notes of berries with a slight nuance of cherry, while the Perch Barbera brought a darker berry vibe with hints light florals. The third one, the Boar’s Nest Zinfandel was my favorite. This full bodied red sported a bit of spice with a beautiful blend of raspberry and red currant. Delish!

In addition to wine tastings and workshops, the public can enjoy art openings, music and comedy events. Workout and Wine, Food and Wine Pairing, Hiking and Wine Tasting, Yoga and Wine Tasting are some of the options available at Tahoe Wine Collective.

The collective is currently located In the Boatworks Mall, but in the next 2-5 years, it may be relocated due to construction. This depends on the new building owner…so always confirm with the website; Tahoe Wine Collective, 760 North Lake Blvd., Suite 1, Tahoe City, CA 96145; https://www.tahoewinecollective.com/
