Review: Harmony Brazilian Steakhouse
My husband is a snowboarder, and I often accompany him on trips from LA to Mammoth. Since I do not ski anymore, I like to shop in the village, as well as try new restaurants. One of our staff always raves about his meals at Harmony Brazilian Steakhouse. So, I have been meaning to try it. Each time we are in Mammoth however, something always takes priority. This would be the trip that I finally made it happen. Let’s face it, when it comes to meat, the Brazilians are well-known for their culinary mastery.
Harmony Brazilian Steakhouse

Elijah welcomed us at the door and introduced himself as our server. After perusing their extensive wine list, I ordered a 2023 Treana (Austin Hope), Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles 2023. This full-bodied red was exceptional. It was fragrant (warm oaky leather) and nicely layered on the palate. Along with a rich dark berry flavor, I detected chocolate and a tinge of vanilla.
Elijah provided a detailed description of Harmony’s signature dishes and encouraged us to partake in the Harmony Experience. This was a great choice for my meat-loving husband. It included unlimited protein with trips to the salad bar as well as sides. Just tell your server which meats you want, and they arrive at your table. We ended up ordering three appetizers, Scallops, BBQ Shrimp and Mushroom Julienne. It turned out that the mushroom appetizer was also on the happy hour menu. That dish could have been a complete meal for me.
Scallops

There was no way we could finish everything we ordered, because we wanted to try additional items that looked and sounded fantastic. For the review, I had to sample the meats, but the Harmony Experience was mostly for Rich. I started with the Scallops (Lemon Butter Pan Seared). Those gorgeous tender gems sat on display in a pool of light broth. They were adorned with bright red plump cherry tomatoes. The demure sauce was breathtaking. It included butter, white wine, lemon and capers. My husband commented that he wanted to drink it all up, and I agreed.
BBQ Shrimp

The BBQ Shrimp appetizer was also beautifully plated. The large Shrimp floated in a red sea with a mound of rice and toasted sourdough. We immediately dipped the crunchy bread along with the rice into the zesty sauce – delish! The shrimp was skillfully cooked and to-die-for.
Mushroom Julienne

When I eventually dove into the Mushroom Julienne, I felt my eyes roll to the back of my head. This dish was exquisite. I was in heaven. Mushrooms and cream are a divine combination. Add to that a diverse selection of mushrooms topped with melted gruyere cheese and you have perfection.
The Harmony Experience

While I am not a big steak eater, I was blown away by the variety. The flavor, finish and mouth feel of each cut is meaningfully different from the others. We felt like royalty, as the Harmony Experience unfolded. In addition to Elijah, there were two other servers who brought us various meats. One would slice from traditional picanha and fraldinha skewered on giant rods. Another brought us a selection of all the other meats on a cutting board at our request. These included: skirt steak, New York strip, spicy pork sausage, parmesan pork, and bacon wrapped chicken breast. The New York was cut at our table. I tasted all of these. I found the parmesan pork and the bacon wrapped chicken breast to be fantastic. Of course, the New York strip was pretty amazing as well.

Moreover, I learned a lot about meat…such as picanha is top sirloin, while fraldinha is bottom sirloin. At first the picanha was my favorite. Then I tasted the fraldinha, which completely stole my heart. The Harmony Experience came with scrumptious mashed potatoes, as well as black beans and rice. Pairing different meats with these starters was a culinary journey, and we were our own tour guides. If you are a big meat eater arriving with a healthy appetite after a day on the slopes, this is the option for you. You can literally keep asking for more meat, and you can return the salad bar again and again. Everything is just exquisite. To say that the team/family who run this restaurant aim to please is an understatement.
Brazilian Dessert

While we were both incredibly full after all that eating, we still indulged in a traditional Brazilian dessert. It had to be done for the sake of completing the full Brazilian dining experience. The grilled pineapple is called Abacaxi com Canela. This was simple, fresh and a sweet light-hearted closing to a wonderful meal.
