Best SM Happy Hour

When one enters the Fairmont Miramar grounds, there is no way to miss the historic Moreton Bay Fig Tree. It is the second largest tree of its kind in all of California (according to Fairmont’s website).

The hotel planted this legendary tree over one hundred and forty years ago. It stands over eighty feet tall. In 1976 by the Santa Monica Landmark’s Commission deemed the the tree a historic landmark. If you would like additional info about its history, see my review (link is above).

What I love most about the FIG AT FIVE deal, is that the ENTIRE menu is ½ off from 5-6pm. Check the website, as it has changed. Now it is five days (as of May 2024). When I dined there a couple years. back, I enjoyed the Kaluga Caviar half off (above), along with some amazing entrees, pastas, and salads.

Other happy hours around town offer a select group of appetizers, and diners are forced to order several menu items. Many times the appetizers are unhealthy as well, fried food, as well as tiny portions. The half off deal includes cocktails, beer and also wine – literally everything on the menu. This is just another reason why FIG Santa Monica’s happy hour is so extraordinary. The restaurant offers a seasonal menu, so the options will change. It’s a great opportunity to try new dishes. Celebrate the farm to table style of cooking with the freshest of ingredients.

Amazing Pasta

The pastas are fantastic…such as the Corn Agnolotti (pine nuts basil and watercress) – see photo above. Or choose between a Maine Lobster Rigatoni (Matt’s mushrooms, Bloomsdale spinach, tarragon, fennel and lobster jus), Lamb Bolognese (pappardelle pasta, Drake Farm’s goat milk feta and mint). If you are a truffle lover, like me, there is a separate section on the menu featuring truffle pasta dishes. Also, you can even choose if you would like white or black truffles (price varies). Cacio e Pepe (cavatelli, balck pepper and pecorino), Mac ‘N’ Cheese (Comte fondue and chives). I am a huge fan of the Hand Rolled Capellini Pasta (Oregon chanterelles and chives) – photo below.

FIG AT FIVE runs every day from 5-6pm. Also remember to always check the website prior to arriving, as the menu is updated seasonally. Prices and special offers may vary.
