Review: Santo Cielo Seafood & Steak House
While traveling on the Baja Peninsula in Mexico, we were scheduled to review Santo Cielo Seafood & Steak House located in Loreto Centro. When we arrived, we were greeted by Luis & Guillermo. Luis led us to a table with an incredible view of the Misión de Nuestra Señora de Loreto Conchó.
Santo Cielo Seafood & Steak House

Just as we were sitting down, the band Leo & Israel started performing. The duo was fantastic. They did some sensational renditions of songs by Carlos Santana and Tears for Fears, and lots more. See the ETG Instagram for videos.
As always I started with a nice medium bodied red. The Cetto Merlot brought cherry vanilla to my nose. While the smooth flavor of dark berries tingled on my tongue. Luis brought my husband a delicious mocktail made of manzanilla tea, lemonade and basil. It was so refreshing.

Appetizers
He also gave us some excellent menu options. For an appetizer, we decided on the fresh Yellowtail Sashimi. This was a local catch and featured sesame oil, soy sauce, red onion & serrano. It was so tender and fresh. The serrano and onion combo showcased the yellowtail beautifully. It just melted in my mouth. Another appetizer Luis suggested was the Shrimp Grill Cheese Fondue. While I was a bit unsure about this recommendation as soon as it arrived, the trepidation was gone, and I was excited to dive in.

The dish was served on a hot platter cradled in a wood board. The presentation was impressive, and it tasted even better. The Oaxaca cheese was sizzling and bubbling, The menu listed this particular dish with sausage but Luis insisted that he bring us shrimp. One bite of these crunchy grilled shrimp draped in delicious Oaxaca melted cheese and I knew he was right. This was exquisite. Fresh hot house made super thin tortillas came with the Grill Cheese Fondue in addition to a bright picante red salsa making for a fantastic symbiotic companionship.
Surf & Turf at Sant Cielo
Luis recommended that we have the Surf & Turf: Lobster and Rib Eye Steak as well. This was absolutely exquisite. It was artistically displayed on an oversized wooden board. A large piece of steak was perched on a bed of vegetables (broccoli, carrots, and more). Then a lobster tail sat atop of the steak. The tender meat of the tail was on display above the shell like the crown jewel of the dish. Scattered about the board were potatoes, large green onions, grilled corn on the cob, with petite bowls of herbed butter and sour cream.

The lobster was perfectly cooked and so flavorful, and the herbed butter brought it to a sweet finish. Moreover the rib eye steak was prepared just right and medium rare as ordered. It was so tender, and the taste was delectable. The portion was large for the two of us, so we took some back to our room. The veggies were also flawlessly cooked, crunchy and flavorful. The grilled green onion was an excellent companion to the delicious steak.
Dessert

Soon a Chocolate Flan appeared on our table much to my excitement. This was so scrumptious. The sweet tempestuous chocolate flirted with the delicate cream of the flan. Therefore creating an intoxicating light chocolatey conclusion to a very satisfying meal.
Complements to Chef Aracely Roman – the cuisine was exquisite. If you go fishing while in Loreto, Santo Cielo Seafood & Steak House will cook your day’s catch. A sign in front of the restaurant reads “You hook it, we’ll cook it.”
