Review: Birba Palm Springs, CA
I love Italian food. So when a friend told me I should review Birba Palm Springs, I said “I’m in!” We entered through a charming garden/patio with twinkling lights and an elegant fire pit. We were seated in a cozy al fresco dining spot surrounded by shrubbery. It was lovely and so romantic.
Review Birba Palm Springs
I had heard about F10 Hospitality’s founder Tara Lazar. She is the owner of several successful Palm Springs restaurants. She made a huge splash with Cheeky’s the innovative breakfast spot. Next Birba would be her second restaurant to open and offers an inspired take on Italian. Needless to say, she has continued her domination over the Palm Springs restaurant scene with Mr. Lyons, and Seymours.

I began my Birba foodie encounter with a Cantina Zaccagnini’s Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. This was a delightful red for my Italian meal to come. With notes of leather, pepper and vanilla, the taste was pure pleasure. Dark berries and chocolate, I detected a tinge of balsamic – yum!
Our Tricolore Salad arrived at the table. Featuring endive, arugula, and radicchio, the fried garlic and aged parmigiana took the dish to the next level. While the lemon gave it a bright fresh nudge the overall flavor was excellent.
The Birba Pizza

Birba is known for its wood-fired pizzas, and once I took a bit into a tasty slice I realized why. The Birba Pizza featured prosciutto, honey, chili oil, mozzarella, as well as San Marzano tomatoes. It was soo good. The crust had a warm chew while the cheese oozed with each bite. The honey and chili oil combo with the prosciutto made for an incredible match. I now know why this classic pizza takes the name of the restaurant. It is the most popular pizza on the menu, and it’s fantastic.
Spaghetti Pomodoro

We also ordered the Spaghetti Pomodoro (San Marzano Tomato, Basil). This simple dish offered fresh Italian ingredients. Topped with aged Parmigiana, the noodles were perfectly cooked, while being immersed in delicious sauce. This staple of the menu was a perfect addition to the signature pizza.
Of course we couldn’t leave without trying the Lemon Olive Oil Cake. Another signature dish, I was surprised how much I loved it. I tend to choose chocolate desserts, but this was fantastic. I was so moist and the taste was so original.
If you love Italian, and happen to be in the Palm Springs area, make a reservation soon. I heard they also have a good happy hour. So visit the website to find out more info.
