Descanso Gardens, Flintridge, CA

Descanso Gardens is one of LA’s go-to venues to enjoy the beauty of nature. It’s a great place to recharge or enjoy a romantic walk. Additionally, it makes for a great day trip from Los Angeles. I visited a couple years back with my husband, and we had a lovely time. CLICK HERE to read my article.

Featuring over 150 acres, this stunning garden features both wild as well as cultivated land. The property breaks down into an Oak Forest, Ancient Forest, California Garden, Center Circle, Oak Woodland, Camellia Collection, and also a Lilac Garden. Each area has walking paths and trails, scattered throughout the property. In addition to featuring native plants, and flowers, it is home to the largest camellia collection in the United States.

Depending on when you visit, all sorts of flowers will be blooming. Remember, this is botanical garden is internationally renowned. Go during cherry blossom season…it is so beautiful and so romantic.

Enchanted Railroad

The Enchanted Railroad has introduced an electric train inspired by the “Little Giant.” The 3-3/4-scale version pays homage to the retired train from the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1960. The upgraded electric train uses a sophisticated electronics system that automatically adjusts power to maintain its speed on hills.
