Shop at Olde Mistick Village, Mystic CT

Mystic Connecticut is a laid back coastal town with a maritime history. Known best for its Mystic Seaport and Aquarium, it’s great for families with children. However if you enjoy retail therapy as do I, you may want to shop Olde Mistick Village. Now let’s get this straight – the name of the shopping center is Olde Mistick Village, but the name of the town in Mystic.

History of Olde Mistick Village

The outdoor retail complex was founded back in 1973. It was created as a 1720-style Colonial village with no two buildings made to look the same. The original layout which is still intact includes a town green, a duck pond, birdhouses along with a charming gazebo, and picturesque walking paths flanked with flowers and trees. There is a good number of shops, as well as  restaurants and a theater. Free parking is available.

My sister who lives in Gales Ferry Connecticut suggested spending a day there, as we both love the pastime of browsing, sampling, and of course purchasing. I loved the ambiance of the entire village. What I enjoyed most about Olde Mistick Village is the variety of stores, restaurants etc. The quaint village includes shops featuring fashion, housewares, artistic gifts, hats, jewelry, olive oil, fudge/sweets, honey, even a Christmas store – yes it’s open all year.
