New York: Hudson Valley, Mohonk Mountain House

Mohonk Mountain House is a one-of-a-kind refuge situated in the Hudson Valley (90 miles north of New York City). When I lived in New York City, I enjoyed several stays here. It is a year round adventure, but fall, when all the trees turn orange is just glorious.

Whatever you love to do, I bet you will find it at this very special resort. It has so much to offer – views, hiking trails, mountain biking, swimming, kayaking, incredible dining, and much much more. In addition to an indoor swimming pool, guests can enjoy guided outdoor activities, 85-mile hiking trail network, and an award-winning spa. There are quaint wooden gazebos located in various spots along the hiking trail which makes for romantic stops along the way.

The Smiley Family founded the Victorian castle resort in 1869 on Lake Mohonk. Surrounding it are 40,000 acres of pristine forest. This National Historic Landmark resort is a destination, no need for pre-trip planning…everything you you desire is on the property. The main dining room offers breathtaking views of the property, and the food is superb.
