New Mexico: Santa Fe Dining

Santa Fe is known for its thriving art scene, but its restaurants have also made their mark, attracting foodies from all over the world. Located adjacent to the plaza in downtown Santa Fe, Cafe Pasqual’s is a small gem of a restaurant which opened in 1979. Founder and Chef Katharine Kagel serves up organic unique dishes to a dining room that only seats fifty people, while others wait their turn outside the restaurant.

Known best for its breakfast, along with its Mexican inspired cooking, it also features a Hot Pastrami on Rye, and a Quinoa Burger which are in high demand. Other popular dishes include: Grilled Prime Angus Ribeye Steak, Grilled Bison Burger, and Mole Enchiladas. In addition to great food, you’ll also enjoy art by local talent on the walls. “Harry’s Roadhouse is our go to place,” said Dr. Stuart Garber, who relocated with his wife from Santa Monica in 2016. “It’s really a special place, it’s the neighborhood hangout…consistently good food, moderately priced, good bar, and we rarely go there without bumping in to friends and neighbors.”

I wrote two articles about Dr. Stuart Garber and his wife Helen Garber. CLICK HERE to read or HERE for more info about Helen’s mixed media art.

Helen Garber said its a great place for breakfast too. “Harry Shapiro has figured it out and the place is jammed day and night. Quality, tasty food in a fun atmosphere.” In addition to delicious Cinnamon Rolls on the weekends (see cover photo), Harry’s Roadhouse also features tasty items like Huevos Ranchos, Traditional Mexican Chilaquiles, Blue Cornmeal Waffles for breakfast as well as New York Strip Steak, Grilled Chicken, and for vegetarians a Buddha Bowl, the list goes on. The eatery also features a rotating art show of local talent. Harry’s Roadhouse, 96 B Old Las Vegas Highway, Santa Fe, NM; http://www.harrysroadhousesantafe.com/

Take in an incredible view at La Fonda on the Plaza. Located on the 5th floor, head to the Bell Tower Bar to enjoy a light lunch, or its signature cocktails. https://www.lafondasantafe.com/
