Best PIzza Happy Hour in Culver City

Who doesn’t love pizza and happy hour? It’s a great combo. When I first arrived in LA, back in the 90s, I was NOT fond of the pizza. Growing up in NYC, I was a true pizza snob. However, I must say California pizza has come a long way, and now stands out on its own merit. Borrowing from the Neapolitan-style pizza crust, I have come to adore the charred edges, air pockets, and chewy crust. Of course, LA pizza has added its own spin with its own nouveau toppings.

Now let’s talk happy hour. Here are two restaurants that offer amazing pizza at a happy hour prices.

etta Happy Hour

etta is a wonderful restaurant with excellent food. It also has a nice happy hour every day from 2-5pm in its bar area (yes there are tables). Remember to check with the restaurant to confirm that the hours have not changed as this article was posted in May 2023. CLICK HERE for more in-depth restaurant reviews. We also spotlight chefs. I met some friends at etta, and we split two pizzas along with some chilled oysters (pink peppercorn & yuzu mignonette) which was a great way to start. The Diavola pizza (pomodoro, soppressata picante, calabrian chile, basil) was fantastic. See cover photo. This is a meat heavy pizza, so we also ordered the Wild Mushroom Pizza to balance it out (goat cheese, black truffle, crispy garlic). If you love truffle, this is the pizza for you. We also enjoyed a classic Caesar Salad.

More Menu Items

Additional items on the happy hour menu include: Margherita Pizza, American Wagyu Meatballs, Arancini, and more. In addition to the food menu, etta offers some fantastic cocktails such as the ‘etta° rita (milagro blanco tequila, cointreau, lime, tajin salt rim), House Wine or a Daiquiri (served UP). You can find a classic Old Rashioned (old forester, zoranj anmé, demerara) or an Americano (red bitter apéritif, vermouth, soda). etta, 8801 Washington Boulevard, Culver City, CA 90232; https://www.ettarestaurant.com

Another Culver City restaurant serving up pizza for happy hour is Roberta’s. This popular eatery features two happy hours running currently – 1. Apertivo Menu, Mon-Fri, 3pm-5pm; 2. Power Hour Menu, Sat-Sun, 3pm-5pm; Pizza is included on both menus, but discounted only during Apertivo.

I have not had the chance to dine at Roberta’s, but back in 2019 I met Head Pizzaiolo, Chris Ancona at the LA Times’ The Taste, and absolutely loved the pizza. CLICK HERE to read my review.

Roberta’s Pizza

One of our staff raved about Roberta’s happy hour and suggested we add a listing. During the week, take advantage of lower priced pizza with the Apertivo Menu. Rosso (tomato, garlic, basil, oregano, olive oil), Margherita (tomato, basil, mozzarella, olive oil), Famous Original (fomato, mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano, caciocavallo, oregano and red pepper flakes) and BEE STING (tomato with soppressata, mozzerella, chili, honey).

The weekend happy hour (Power Hour) menu has a bit more options, a prosciutto plate, California cheese plate; or prosciutto & cheese plate. Along with several of the above mentioned pizzas. Be aware, the pizzas are NOT discounted on the Power Hour menu available during the weekend. Multiple toppings are available at an additional charge, so you can create your own special pizza.
