FIG Santa Monica: More than a Happy Hour!

If you are interested in a happy hour that offers high quality cuisine, head to FIG AT FIVE at FIG Santa Monica restaurant located in the Fairmont Miramar hotel. In addition to incredible food, enjoy the rich history of the hotel and its grounds. Read my review of FIG Santa Monica on the Stories Section of ETG. When one enters the Fairmont Miramar grounds, there is no way to miss the historic Moreton Bay Fig Tree, the second largest tree of its kind in all of California (according to Fairmont’s website). This legendary tree was planted over one hundred and forty years ago. Standing over eighty feet tall, it was deemed a historic landmark in 1976 by the Santa Monica Landmark’s Commission (more history included in my review – see above for link).

What I love most about the FIG AT FIVE deal, is that the ENTIRE menu is ½ off SEVEN days a week from 5-6pm. Yes, Kaluga Caviar is available half off (see cover photo), along with some amazing entrees, pastas, and salads.

Other happy hours around town offer a select group of appetizers, so diners are forced to order several to fill up. Many times the appetizers are unhealthy as well, fried food, as well as tiny portions. The half off deal includes cocktails, beer and wine – literally everything on the menu – making FIG Santa Monica’s happy hour extraordinary. The restaurant offers a seasonal menu, so the options will change. It’s a great opportunity to try new dishes celebrating the farm to table style of cooking with the freshest of ingredients.

The pastas are fantastic…such as the Corn Agnolotti (pine nuts basil and watercress) – see photo above. Or choose between a Maine Lobster Rigatoni (Matt’s mushrooms, Bloomsdale spinach, tarragon, fennel & lobster jus), Lamb Bolognese (pappardelle pasta, Drake Farm’s goat milk feta and mint). If you are a truffle lover, like me, there is a separate section on the menu featuring truffle pasta dishes. You can even choose if you would like white or black truffles (price varies). Cacio e Pepe (cavatelli, balck pepper and pecorino), Mac ‘N’ Cheese (Comte fondue and chives). I am a huge fan of the Hand Rolled Capellini Pasta (Oregon chanterelles and chives) – photo below.

FIG AT FIVE runs every day from 5-6pm. Be sure to check the website prior to arriving, as the menu is updated seasonally. Prices and special offers may vary.
